US economy is designed this way, everyone will get their own share. No one bothers about optimizing the chain and reducing the cost. If they do that whole economy will collapse. I applied for PIO card for my son and daughter and both was rejected as both me and my wife are Indian citizens. I was under the impression that kids who hold PIO card need not have to pay NRI fees during college. Is this something true?

H1 was approved some time last year and H1B started from 10/1/2006.
Can employee start working without SSN? My wife received H1 approval around Oct 2006 and we applied for SSN in Nov 2006. We received it by end of Feb 2007. From March 07 we got pay stubs.
People who switched from F2/H4 to H1 can consider their SSN application time as valid status. Right?

it depends on the individual hospital... your downside is only your wife getting fired... which might not really happen unless your wife supplies 100 A grade nurses to the directly competing hospital across the street... if she does that, anyway she wont care for the job.... :-) all the best... let us know how it goes...

Nobody here even comes close in identifying which are the eligibility criteria. Everybody hopes for one or the other.
Meanwhile one thing is for sure:
Every application filed after July 2nd, is filed AFTER they closed the doors oficially! How are we in the same class as the people from July 2nd ??? Just because we prepared for filing ??? Isn't that a bit weak in the eyes of the law ?

Just curious, why are you not porting your PD?. Nowadays Perm takes less than 2 months and with premium, 140 takes a few months.
I-140 premium processing was stopped last year...It takes upto a year or more to get I-140 approved, that too if its a direct case...If its a interfiling case to capture PD from Eb-3 to Eb-2, then its taking even longer..One of my friends filed I-140 in March 2007 to capture his Eb-3 PD of Apr 2004 to EB-2 and he is still waiting....I-140 processing dates are well beyond his receipt date but still his application is pending....So porting PDs is not that straightforward these days...

does this mean that i cannot get a 3 yr extension based on approved I-140 pp? My labor is not pending for 365 days and so I am solely depending on I-140 approval for a 3 yr extension. I am filing i-140 and i-485 concurrently before July 5...will this give me an EAD option even if 140 takes longer to get approved?
This only applies to pending or new 140s; if you have a approved 140 it does not affect you.

Is this is true, then it is not the time to simply convert, but invest. Assume you invest 50K(23lacs) in India now and after 20 years, you should see the value of 23 lacs to be 8 crores. If that 8 crores is converted back to USD at the rate of 20:1, then you will get 4 million. Probably you could use this for yor kids college education.

I feel sorry for the people who live in slums of dharavi but not for people who should not have been in the US in the first place (based on their education) and are now finding ways to get ahead of the legit EB2 candidates by buying masters degrees.
They are NOT buying MS, they are inquiring where the fees are cheaper. If this is buying MS, even you *bought* your Masters (and every other degree) unless you are from the 1% who get full scholarship (you would definitely have been in EB1 had you been in that layer).

1) USCIS still has not entered all the july and aug. filers. USCIS will have a good idea by Oct or Nov. how many applications are in the pipeline, how many they can approve and what the PD cut off date needs to be?
You are just repeating yourself. Show me the logic why entering all apps will retrogress the PD?
Let me give a concrete example. For India EB2, why would the PD not move from, say, April 2004 to January 2005, even if, say, 20 million people with priority date at 2006 apply for I485?
Understand the procedure first. With a better idea of applications in pipeline, you will see the PD movement to be better predicted, not retrogression.

I hope it does some good to you and makes your PD current/closer so that you dont eat/sleep/drink VB. C mon man... There are other things you can do. Dont get offended by what I am saying. If your PD is closer, I can understand your excitement. But a lot of people are just killing time in forums by working their ass off on predictions and call it comic relief. I hope IV core members stop encouraging this kind of behavior.
