Lets see how a common member look at so called "GC Dream" and try to understand why there is no unity.
Is it what is called "Inspiration" which is missing? I guess so. Can we call it "Motivation"?
What else can we call that "thing" which stops us from uniting for a cause? "So far I am just "Encouraged" thats all, not inspired". Is this what it is? I do believe there is a huge difference in these 2 words.
Everyone in this community are Brave and Courageous.
Note: Do not jump on me asking What am I doing on all this. :) I think we just have to realize this to get a bigger perspective.

Once the issue for which they united is resolved or becomes one of less importance" they will choose to stay away. There are several examples in the history even revolutions and freedom strugles. Unity pervails until the comfort zone then it takes its direction.
Look at us - if green card is delayed - we say - I dont care about it, India is rising - but are we going there? No way - no one who says "India is rising" will go - in fat they will be the first to apply for any immigration benefit. Again this does not apply to everyone. Some may apply for immi benefit but nothing wrong in that and they take that concious decision on the situation that odds of getting GC in this life is near 0.
Why are we individually so highly skilled and intelligent and capable but collectively so naive? As important this issue is for you, is not as important to atlease some of the members in the community. But still they will do what ever they can for the community with out any "inconveniene". That does not make then in admisible in this community. Does it? If yes, then thats the number 1 block to cross towards unity
Why do we always want others to do it for us? is it because if there is any opposition the active ones will be affected and we can escape? is it cowardice that stops us from being united? Not necessarly. No one wants others to do anything for them. (Not the people who start new thread with action items for others and pop under the hood). Seriously I don't care - my personal opinion that in this particular case it is none of our ( India's ) business to meddle in Sri Lankan affairs when they are on the verge of getting rid of a menace they have . Terrorism is not a solution of anything . Only peaceful times can bring happiness and prosperity.
Really? Then why did India meddle in Pakistan affairs and liberated East Pakistan (now Bangladesh) in 70s? People should post only after reading complete SL history and how minorities were suppressed. One point of time GOI supported and funded and trained LTTE. The problem for India as well as Sri Lankan Tamils is lack of strong/tough/clever leader like Indra Gandhi. The problem for SL tamils are the "ego" of Prabakaran. He himself wants to be a only leader and not yielding to anyone and not willing to compramise. The LTTE is necessary evil to solve this issue. Without them, one can not find a peace solution. Though, they did lot of mistakes and criminal activites, they needed in negotiation. All political parties in TN and GOI is playin drama in view of election. It is so pain to watch the situation of the innocent peoples trapped in this war. If India, would have stepped in long back, lot of innocent lives would have been saved.

Nope. UK and Pakistan would then join the club of India & China. ROW is an artificial construct. The reason USCIS posts priority dates for India, China, Mexico and Philippines separately is that applicants from these countries are typically, and especially over subscribed. ROW countries are just countries which are not typically over subscribed in the EB category.

Why do you think it is Indian citizens? Just because some politicians are saying so for their own gains all Tamilians in Srilanka are not Indian citizen.
Heck, even USA is trying harder than India by using its muscle to block billions of dollars of IMF funds to SL for not caring about ceasefire.
Are you suggesting India should start playing the role of world police as USA.

Thanks to everyone for taking an active role in the funding drive. It is always a frustrating experience every time we want to raise funds. In our overzealousness sometimes we also hurt the effort by being too harsh on people who are not contributing. We do not wish to encourage any finger pointing. Members start asking all kinds of questions on the forum and kill the initiative thereby hurting the organization and ultimately themselves. At this time we are no longer going to ask for funds on the forum and will continue the IV effort with what we have from the contributions members have made. Members who feel they wish to contribute will contribute if they feel for the cause in their heart. Admins have decided to close all such threads so that we can focus on the other IV work rather than solving disputes between members and making sure no anonymous member is hurting other anonymous member�s feelings.

Here is my case, Company A filed Labor GC for me, Labor filed 04/2004, I-140 approved 06/07, I485 filed 07/07.
Company A got aquired by company B in 11/07, Company B filed 3 year extension on H1B based on approved I-140 approved H1B.
Now company B filed amendment to approved I 140- My questions-
Is my I 140 still aproved or it will start all over?
I am planning to change the company coming October, Can I change the company at this stage. Will it affect my AOS in adverse way.

I need to take care of if I want to switch the job.

My friend, the purpose of green card is to allow you to convert into citizenship sometime down the road. If you are not ready and willing to spend your saved money in the US and better its economy, then how can you expect the US goverment to help you?
If you do not have enough money, then you are not paid the prevailing wage or the wage mentioned on the green card. If you do not have a job, how can your green card process still be there arent you illegal already?
To add to all the above, as nixtor has stated, reduced backlogs help everybody.

If i consider people, who lost jobs because of this worst market, you are twisting the story by talking prevailing wages and illegal status. FYI, I have potential to buy a home here and currently working and making enough money here. I request you answer the question only, not twist.

The whole working world lives by on one simple rule ..... GETTING PEOPLE OFF YOUR BACK.
The bigger PITA (pain-in-the-ass) you are... the higher is the priority you get.
As a community we will need to become a PR nightmare for govt. officals... simply being an inconvenience is not going to cut it... we will have to become a "a cactus that is stuck in the colon".
USCIS says EBs are retrogressed because there are XXXXX people in the queue. Why is the queue so long? Because they wasted numbers in the past and kept the queue long. This is pure operational inefficiency that is resulting in monetary, emotional and mental loss to about a million people.
This is a valid ground for a class action lawsuit.
By filing this suit, we will become the "cactii in the colon" that they will have to address. And you know what the easy out of court settlement will be..... RECAPTURE!
We will keep lobbying and crying as we usually do.. But this thing has a far better shot than anything else.
Class actions are not performed easily. First,one needs to show that an agency acted illegally and that action caused many people harm. The fact that USCIS did not use all the visa numbers is not automatically illegal. The law says that the MAXIMUM number of visas, for example, in the EB is 140,000 per fiscal year. It does not say what's the minimum. I am not an attorney, but if that were an easy case, many times would someone else have tried it. Good idea, but as far as I know, difficult to fight from a legal point of view. I'll ask my attorney about this and will keep you posted.

This is my Question for traveling with advance parole.
1. came to usa 1999 as b1 visa with my wife.
2. change f1 student (my wife ) me f2 student depend after 4 months.
3. apply for I-485 employment i am principle applicant july 2nd 2007 riceive date and notice date is august 24th 2007 .
4. my wife apply i-824 july 2nd 2007 and she left usa july 14th 2007.
5. i got Ead and advance parole august 30th 2007.
6. i have not started work yet.
7. i had apply for f1 student visa (change of status f2 to f1) july 15th 2007 but denied.
so my question is my I-94 is f2 until d/s is no longer valied or not?
because my wife left uSA after filling my I 485 , is there is any problem travelling with advance parole?
my student change of status is denied so there is any problem to traval with advance parole?

I thought we're not supposed to pay for H1 and GC. Correct me if I'm wrong? I guess we can only pay for the visa appointment fee.
I came here in 1999, at that time employer was not bound to pay for H1-B expense. Later USCIS enforced the law and now most employer do pay for H1-B.
However for GC, its the employer's discretion and there is no written rule as who should bear the cost fo GC filing. I paid for mine.
