There has been established a way to deal with backlogs at Dallas and Philly, and these officials at PBEC and DBEC have been given a deadline of Sept 2007 to clear everything. So someting is and will be done in this regard. Not much more can be done here with PBEC or DBEC, and the real test is to get solutions for the retrogression.
Once the laws are passed on the immigration reforms, its a done deal my friend, and then it does not matter how much we try after this to address retrogression. This is our only chance.

i asked the exact same question to my lawyer... she had no evidence or past precedents... i doubt if any lawyer will have it...
the thing to note here is this: more often than not, your 485 will get approved (if your case is approvable) without any issues in the normal course... the question of denial comes ONLY IF there is an RFE and then ONLY IF IO is not satisfied with your RFE and he calls you over for an interview and then ONLY IF he is not satisfied with answers you give in interview. Taking a wild guess, we are talking about maybe small percentage of folks going to the RFE stage and fraction of that going to interview and a fraction of that actually getting denials... if people have other complications such as basic legalities in their business/self-employment or any other issues such as no pay for long time etc... then i suspect they may get denied whether self employed or not.... but if all is clear, then it should be very minimal...

This is just one example.There are millions of incidents which proves that GOD doesn't exist.

In the state of Mass delivery is covered by the State provided you show you don't have insurance. Millions of single moms are delivering and many are teenagers and many are w/o any insurance. I've started calling and made first call to the chairman's office. I told the man that I'd called to express my grattitude and thank the chairman. Then I requested the chairman to take a yes/no vote on this bill and to take the bill to its logical conclusion, at least in the Jud Committee.

I opted for the CP option as well. My I-140 was approved in Oct 06 and thats when my attorney received the package for Consular processing from NVC.
Although my PD is not current yet, my lawyer asked me to pay the fees so that they can send the packet back to NVC. I am not sure what to do as my PD is not current yet.
How the hell did you get packet 3 from the NVC before you PD was current.??

It is not the case that when the reduce H1b they need to outsource. Can any statitics tell that last 3 years H1b cap reached but because of that Outsourcing is done or US lost Compettiveness because there is no skilled workers. No evidence proves that. Still US only is having most technology companies.
If US lose 12 million illegals that will cause a problem for employers. But if 50% of H1b people leave the country because of green card issues then same or more number of people will enter by H1 or L1 or b1. That is the reason Skil bill was not able to pass in the Senate based on the fact that some abuses are in H1b. Skill bill can be delayed 5 years but impact will be less for the country. But impact will be more for immigrants. Also now H1b can be extended unlimited number of times when I140 is cleared. So really exodus will be very less compared to incoming persons. So there is no compelling reason for the country to increase gc. But for illegals there is compelling reason to act on them because illegal immigration will go uncontrolled if they leave as it is.

I am into Datawarehousing and BI. Worked in multiple technology such as Oracle BI, Cognos, Informatica. It is frustrating to see my mid-size American Consulting Company charging the client a $180 per hour while I get $85K per annum. I cannot even switch to my client since I have signed a non-compete agreement..... I think direct marketing is the best way to augment your rates....
Well, I like you because you are just a straight shooter. If you are such a straight shooter then let me do some straight talk, so just catch this.
Your American mid-size company or Desi small size or super size company will get $180/hr but you will not get even $50/hr from the same client even when you go direct. So no matter how "highly-skilled" you think you are, your non-compete argument is not good enough for you not to be able directly market yourself, because there are gazillion other companies using BI, Cognos, BO, Informatica, Datastage and every similar crap. You can impress a few people by naming some technologies that maybe hot but they don't mean a &hit if you market them yourself. Here is why. A lot of people blame the lack of GC as a reason to be exploited. That is part of the problem. The other part of the problem is that most hiring managers in large companies get commission from these small, mid-size or large American, Desi or European consulting companies. That's why in most cases they always hire through one of these companies. They will not hire directly because the manager thinks you to be a stingy desi, and if he hires you directly the hiring manager will not see a dime, so why will he hire you directly? This is a big cycle of corruption and everybody is part of it including lawmakers who get contributions from lobbyist/representatives of these small, mid and large size companies. You think lawmakers don't know what is going on? You think client doesn't know that you make 85K when the middle company get $180/hr? Now if the Deniel is because of AC21 and 140 revoke , when we reply with MTR, should I sent copy of the AC21 letter we sent before or do we need to sent a fresh one ( employment verification letter ) ? The reason I ask this is when we originaly filed AC21 docs ( in Feb 2008) I was with Company2 . Now I am with company 3 ( just 2 months ). And good part of is company3 is well aware about the "same or similar " letter and is ready to issue the letter .

The hearing results can be used to a wide range of related bills. S 1085 is a very similar bill and the emphasis of this bill is also reuniting families. During markup of whichever bill they pickup, they can amend the new pieces of the other bill.
If it is a markup, then, it is tightly linked to the bill.
So, definitely the party remains in good standing :)

Those of you who are now thinking that being able to file 485 will give you freedom - just read through the list to see how many 485 filers (mainly Indians and Chinese) are stuck in the name check russian roullette.

Most would think it would catch moslems - in reality it catches anyone in "hi-tech" and more often than not Indians, Chinese and Russians. And ofcourse Koreans too. One of the person's stuck in name check commented on the above link - if the FBI knew that a fifth of the nation shares the last name Kim! I guess the same would go for Wu, Yu, Zhou, Singh, Kumar etc.

IV encourages members from every state to participate in the advocacy days - meeting with the legislators on both the Senate and House side on June 7th and 8th; with the training being on June 6th.
It is also possible for members who are unable to make it to DC on those days to still be a part of the effort. Please pledge your support by donating for air tickets or hotel stay. Few members have offered their miles to be used for air tickets, and many of our VA, DC, MD members have opened up their homes for out of town IV members. We need more offers to cover all the costs.
Some members are also driving from OH, PA, NJ, NY, NC.... If you could also post on this thread, we can get members to carpool and thereby share costs.
Please make your pledges known either to your state chapter leaders or on this thread, and we will be contacting you on your offers.
Lets make this a successful effort on all fronts.
